Backlink Tool: How to Build Links to Your Small Business

Link building is one of the most time consuming aspects of marketing your small business online. If you want to rank in your city or state for a specific keyword, it is important to gain links from the community that you are targeting. Speaking at local events, hosting workshops, and submitting your website to local business directories are some of the best ways to build links to your local business.

The first step in building links to your small business is to create a site or blog related to your niche. Add relevant content about your products and services, build social media profiles, and let your customers know about your website. If you are on a tight budget, set up a blog and post fresh content regularly. Share your articles on social networking and social bookmarking websites.

Add your website to local directories. This is the first place where you should look for links. Make sure you submit your site to Google Places, Yellow Pages, Bing Local, as Yelp. Directory submission is a great way to build relevant links to your site and promote your business to a local audience. You can also use a backlink tool to get faster results. There are many programs and applications that can help you obtain quality links and boost traffic.

Make a list of local organizations and business associations in your city or state. Submit your website to the local chamber of commerce. If you get linked here, other companies and websites will use your data to write reviews and find information about the types of products you are offering. Search for company directories and submit your site there as well. Scan your network for backlinks that are easily attainable. By joining local organizations, you will get more customers and gain exposure for your business.

Another good way to get backlinks for your local business is to sponsor events, sports teams, and charities. You can help non-profit organizations raise money, support local activism groups, or donate products to schools. The companies that support charities and community events are usually listed on the organization's website and receive advertising by word of mouth. You can also sponsor local art shows, concerts, and business workshops. Focus on developing relationships with non-competing businesses in your area. Organize a monthly contest on your website. Get your business listed on review websites. These simple strategies will help you build relevant links and establish your online brand.

Using a Backlink Generator - Avoid Dying Young Online!

Retailers, non-profits, organizations, politicians and of course online marketers all use search to drive traffic to their offers and products. Relevant keywords are used to direct seekers to websites or blogs where they will be provided an answer or solution to their particular problem.

If you know how to use a keyword research tool effectively it's like you can actually see into the future. You can mine for keyword gold by using the best keyword research software on the market and find the most targeted long-tail and short-tail keywords with low competition and a high amount of monthly global searches, but if you can't build a lot of quality backlinks you'll never have a sustainable amount of traffic. If your selling products or services, no traffic means no leads, no leads means no sales and no sales will mean no business.

Fast Quality SEO Results?

For those who want fast SEO results, a backlink generator may be just the answer. Webmasters can attest to the fact that getting inbound links to your website takes up a lot of time, energy and effort. Link building is arguably the most important and effective strategy for enhancing the visibility of your business on the internet. You can rest assured that a successful campaign involving link building using these online tools results in increase in traffic volume and top search engine rankings.

What's the true about Panda and Penguin

Naturally at this point we have to speak to the Panda and Penguin update and as to whether it's "safe" to use an automated backlink generator to link build?

So real quick, What do you have to be aware of? Google changes its algorithm 500-600 times a year and every few months brings out the big guns and does a major algorithmic update like Panda and Penguin that affects the search results in a major way. The update that most concerns the topic of backlinking is Penguin.

Too much of a good thing can be damaging and that's the case with the penalty that was levied in the Penguin update. Links were lost because of anchor text over-optimization. Too many exact match anchor text back links got a lot of people penalized.

Let me explain a little further. Using exact anchor text leaves an obvious "footprint" that identified artificial backlinking. So if the keyword your trying to rank for was "baby cribs" it would be obvious your were artificially backlinking if all your link's anchor text were "baby cribs". In order to look more natural you would need to vary your anchor text and use "broad" anchor text, "generic" anchor text and "URL" anchor text. (See the example below). So over-optimization was the issue NOT employing a backlink generator to build artificial backlinks.

Exact Match - "Baby Cribs"Broad Phrase - "Safe Cribs for Babies", "Crib Safety for Babies"Generic - "Go Here", "Click Here", "Follow this Link"URL - www.YourWebsite.com

Beneficial Link Building Software

These online backlinking tools have increased in popularity in recent years. A backlink generator is associated with many benefits including the fact that they are able to increase traffic volume to your website thus making your website rank in top positions in the search engine results. These online tools are considered the best choice amongst all other link building techniques.

The main reason being they have the capability of creating inbound links a lot faster as compared to other methods. Furthermore, when using a backlink generator, it eliminates the need to outsource the services of a SEO expert. In essence, the technique saves on both time and money. It is just a simple process where you only have to select one of the numerous online tools available, registering for an account and finally downloading the software.

The use of link building software comes with its fair share of benefits. One of the main benefits is that the online tool has the capability of placing regular inbound links to your website or blog from well established and reputable websites that you have never visited before. These online tools crawl through a myriad of web pages all over the internet with the intention of finding those websites that contain web content that are closely related to that of your site followed by link building on those relevant web pages.

Automate the Link Building Process

As mentioned previously, there are numerous benefits experienced by bloggers and webmasters as soon as they commence using these fantastic tools. Organic link building is considered very effective, though it is a very expensive affair. The majority of SEO companies do not provide guarantees of quick results in exchange for their services.

As a result, undertaking link building on your own is a viable alternative. In this case, it might take you couple of weeks or months to attain quality inbound links to your website. Nevertheless, link building is absolutely essential to rank on the first page of the search engines so keep at it.

With a backlink generator, you can obtain relevant links and therefore boosting your online presence. It follows that the higher the number of inbound links your site has, the higher it appears in the search engine results page. Many people have questions as regards the effectiveness of these link building software tools. The answer depends to a great extent on the quality of the online software being used. In this regard, it is important to purchase your backlink generator from a highly regarded site.

If you don't wish to submit your website to thousands of directories manually and spend your quality time making posts or comments on forums or blogs for purposes of getting a few inbound links, then the option to buy a number of tools may be right for you.

Anchor Text Backlinks Examined

When I first heard that there were approximately 14 billion websites on the internet I thought "I heard that wrong"; I thought "14 billion pages maybe but 14 billion sites! No WAY"! I took another look at it and sure enough, it said 14 BILLION sites... unreal!!!

The very next thought was "how does someone in the article marketing business get to the first page of Google with billions of competitors"? Article marketing is a powerful way to get traffic to a website and if done correctly, means getting massive exposure from thousands and thousands of people coming to your site looking for products, services and information.

Anchor Text Backlinks Serious "Link-Juice"

Getting to the first page of Google should be the goal for any serious internet business but getting to the first page may not be enough. The reality is that 80% of the clicks that occur on the first page of Google goes to the 1st, 2nd and 3rd spots on the page. The first spot alone receives about 56% of the clicks. So if you're ranking anywhere below the 3rd spot then just know that you're getting only a small fraction of the traffic that you could be getting.

The key to ranking in the most trafficked spots in the SERP's is to get more "anchor text backlinks" to your site then the other guy. I've heard it said that backlinks are like votes, if you get the most votes, YOU WIN! For those who are using article marketing as their main strategy to drive traffic to their site, they must get the most BACKLINKS!

Backlinks are the backbone in the competitive world of article marketing and if you're not focused on getting massive amounts of quality, anchor text backlinks, you are wasting your energy, effort and time. Period!

How The Pro's Do It

The first element is to write fresh, original content that people are searching for and will give value to the reader. A very successful article marketer personally advised me to make sure I had an intent and that I was solving problems with every article I published. If you peruse the editorial guidelines for submitting articles to the top article directories you'll find that they are very serious about maintaining a good reputation on the internet for providing quality content. No rehashed, duplicate or especially spun articles will be permitted!

The second element for a successfully reaching the top spots in the search engines is to submit your original content with an anchor text link, to the authority article directories. Once your article is approved it will be submitted and you will have successfully created quality anchor text backlinks to your web page. All you need to do at this point is to repeat the process again and again to reach higher in the search engine results page.

That may sound like a lot of work to be able to create a backlink but are you building a business or treating your business like a hobby? If you want to get the most traffic to your site then creating anchor text backlinks is vitally important to your article marketing efforts and the rewards will be in direct proportion to how many anchor text backlinks you can get to point back to your website.

Automatic Backlink Software: How Does Social Media Link Building Work?

Increasingly more website owners and Internet marketers are using social media to get quality backlinks. There has been a lot of debate regarding traditional link building methods versus social media. The rules of SEO have changed a lot over the past few months as Google emphasizes organic link building. Social media can play a key role in your marketing campaign as a way to engage your readers and boost link popularity.

Social networking sites are great platforms for attracting relevant backlinks with minimum investment. The backlinks obtained from social media are highly valuable and completely organic. Google has recently admitted that they use signals from social media sites when ranking a website. Building a strong presence on these websites will result in more traffic and backlinks. This strategy also allows you to build relationships with industry players and authorities.

When you use social media for building links, you focus on the individual behind the web pages you want to get links from. In traditional link building, you focus on anchor texts in your links from specific sites. The main difference between these two strategies is the focus. Focusing on the person behind the page is much more efficient than trying to obtain links from a specific website or page.

If you want to take full advantage of social media, you first need to identify your target audience. There are three main categories of users that you should focus on: natural sharers, industry players, and online communities that can give you access to your target demographics. Find the key influencers in your industry and try to connect with them on social networking sites and forums. Keep an eye on your competitors. You can also use a backlink generator to get the most out of your link building campaign.

Focus on offering quality content to your target audience. Write compelling articles that people want to see and share. Share other people's posts as well. These strategies will help you build an audience that is interested in what you have to offer. If you are genuine and have good content, you will get organic backlinks to your site.

Stay active and interact with your prospects. Keeping in the conversation with fans and followers on social networking sites helps you keep a high profile in front of industry influencers and gain exposure for your site. Make your content easy to share and give people a reason to visit your website and link back to your posts.

Using automatic backlink software will lead to faster results in terms of SEO and link building. When combined with quality content and good SEO, a backlink tool can boost your website popularity and help you achieve higher rankings in search engines.

Organic SEO Services: Top 5 Landing Page Mistakes to Avoid

Creating a landing page is different from setting up a regular web page. These pages need special consideration. A landing page is the page on your site where visitors and potential customers arrive as determined by the link they clicked from an article, advert, or directory listing. Its purpose is to inspire the visitor to complete your conversion action. Unfortunately, many webmasters and online marketers create pages that turn away visitors instead of engaging them.

Here are the most common five landing page mistakes to avoid:

Not Offering Value

If a potential customer finds your page and asks "How does this benefit me?" would the answer be clear? Make sure that your page clearly states your goal. Can the visitor understand your offer and what you're asking him to do to get it in less than five seconds? If you want people to do something, you have to ask them explicitly.

Having a Weak Headline

As soon as someone lands on your page, the first thing he should see is a strong, eye catching headline. You only have three seconds to catch people's attention before they leave your site. Make sure the link they clicked on to lead them to your page is consistent with the content and the headline. Your headline should contain a clear description of your offer, a clear action, and an explanation of the value of your offer.

Not Clearly Defining Your Goal

Before you set up a landing page, determine your goal. Do you want to make a sale? Do you want to build your list? Not having a clear call to action will affect your landing page conversion negatively.

Not Focusing on Customers

Many website owners and copywriters tend to write about their business instead of focusing on customers. Change the focus of your content to your prospects. A successful landing page should never be generic. Instead of writing: "Our products come with a one year guarantee," say "You will receive a one year guarantee on all products." Write in second person and address directly to your customers.

Adding Worthless Links

Adding links with no value is one of the biggest mistakes that immediately kill the conversion rate of your page. It is essential to use links that take people closer to the conversion goals. Keep your copy to a minimum and don't overload your audience with extraneous information that isn't needed to help the conversion.

If you need help creating your landing page, hiring a virtual assistant is a great choice. Many independent contractors who are offering organic SEO services can set up your landing page and promote your products to the target audience.

Automatic Backlink Software: Directory Submission Tips for Link Building

An essential part of your search engine optimization strategy is to get quality backlinks to your site. Web directories are an excellent source of one way links. Submitting your website to directories is one of the easiest ways to build links and gain exposure online. Although this strategy isn't as effective as it was in the past, integrating directory submission into your marketing campaign is still worth it.

Webmasters can choose from a large number of free and paid directories. If you want to use free directories, select those that have stood the test of time. Submitting to directories that are not related to your niche guarantees that your site will not be found by potential customers. Before you start using this link building technique, make a list of web directories that are relevant to the content of your site. Search for blogs and websites that compile directory lists.

From a search engine's point of view, the best inbound links are organic ones. Search engines assign higher rankings to the pages that people naturally link to because they found the content interesting and informative. You can use free web directories to build organic links. After you compile a list of free directories, write the titles, keywords and descriptions that you will use for each submission. Your titles will become the anchor text for your link. Choose at least three different keywords and write one or two descriptions for your link. Don't use the same text every time - it doesn't look naturally.

Sign up for a new email account that you will use when submitting your site to web directories. Include your unique selling proposition and your call to action in your description. Check your site statistics regularly to see when you have been added to a directory. Choose the most appropriate category for your website and write a brief description that resembles the description style of other sites listed in your targeted category. This way you will increase your chances of getting approved.

When combined with automatic backlink software and social media optimization, directory submission can drive tons of traffic and backlinks to your website. Read the guidelines before filling in the submission form and keep track on where and when you submitted your website information. If your site contains promotional material, consider removing the ads for the time you will be submitting the site. Don't add the same website to the same directory more than once.

A backlink tool can help you build links faster. Many webmasters use directory submission, social media, and automatic backlink software to get targeted traffic and gain visibility on the Internet.

SEO - Bad Links Are Worse Than No Links

If you own a business and have a webpage, you have no doubt received emails from companies promising thousands of links to your site that will guarantee you a spot on page one of any online search. Hopefully, you have relegated those emails to your spam folder because that's where they belong. Google is taking a hard line on unauthoritative links, crushing the ranking of some websites along the way. Here are some things Google is looking for and what you can do to avoid problems with your site.

Paid Links - If you're buying links, HALT! STOP! CEASE! Google will punish you. Google is on the lookout for artificial and unnatural site links that are intended to effect page rank. If you suspect you may have been penalized for links you paid for, delink from them as quickly as possible. Go back as far as you need to go back. If you've been buying links for 3 years, go back 3 years and delete all of them.

If you suspect you have links to your site that you don't know about, use a tool such as SEOmoz to check your backlinks. There have been occasions when a website has bought links to a competitor's site, and then reported the site to Google. Using SEOmoz will allow you to see what sites are linking to you. If you find a site that should not be linking to you, contact them and demand to be delinked. If your demand goes unheeded, have the rel="no follow" attribute added to them.

Once you have cleaned up your site, don't wait out the penalty. It may take longer than you think. Instead, write to Google outlining the steps you took to clean up your site, and ask for reconsideration.

Widget Bait - Have you ever seen an advertisement asking you to sign up for a website counter? You think it's pretty cool, and it's free, so you sign up. There's a good chance that there are hidden links in that widget. In fact, there is a website counter out there with links to a pay day loan outfit. The website owners who posted the widget didn't even know there were links associated with it. This is an example of widget bait. If you decide to insert a third party widgets into your site make sure that all the links are clickable, readily viewable, and relevant to your site.

A widget that has links in plain site but is not relevant to your site will not buy you a lot of love from Google. Google is looking for links that conform and are relevant to the editorial content of the site it is linking to. If the link within the widget goes to a totally unrelated site, Google will not look upon it as being authoritative and will not give you the editorial vote you need for a higher page rank.

Reputation Management - Google is on the lookout for sites that appear to use a "reputation management" firm. Many of these firms use spammy links to try to push up positive articles on the site. Google is ignoring those links.

As I've said again and again, if you have great, relevant and compelling content on your site, Google will reward you. If you have sites linking to your site because your site is engaging and editorially relevant to the linking site, Google will reward you for that. If your content is unique you will be rewarded. In SEO, hard work and creativity is being rewarded, shortcuts and trying to rig the system is not.

The Importance of Link Diversity

Awhile back I talked about the importance of traffic diversity; that is the importance of ensuring that all of your traffic isn't coming from just one place. This was in the wake of the Content Farm update, later renamed the Panda Update after the affectionate nickname given by his coworkers to the programmer at Google who spearheaded and played a pivotal role in the update in question.

The idea was that no one traffic source is guaranteed and reliable for all time whether that's paid traffic, organic SEO, etc. because one substantial change in the policies of that traffic source and your ocean of traffic has been stopped up to resemble a trickling stream overnight unless you have plenty of other traffic sources coming in.

Today I'm going to talk about something completely different: the importance of link diversity.

Traffic and SEO are inextricably linked, but this primarily will refer to search engine optimization and the paramount role which link diversity plays in it.

Just like you don't want all of your traffic coming from the same place, you don't want all of your links coming from the same place.

Would you rather have just one VERY excited webmaster vouching for your site OR would you rather have an entire caravan worth of webmasters vouching for it:

The answer is pretty clear, variety wins out time and time again. Google doesn't want to see just one site or one type of site linking to your site because that says to them that your content isn't good enough to get links from other sources, and it looks questionable at best.

Just like if you were shopping around and were interested in buying a new product, you'd rather read lots of testimonials from different people about that product as opposed to just one very excited person who likely is just a shill for that company; eventually you want to hear from some other people to get some more opinions.

The moral of the story is to make sure that you not only procure links from a variety of article directories, but from other types of sites like blogs, bookmarks, RSS, forums. Diversity is the cornerstone of any successful linking campaign because it looks natural and looks like you have value content to share with the world. Therefore you should think about varying up your linking opportunities as often as possible to enjoy the benefits of Google.

Link diversity is one of the big Google ranking factors; if you check out the diagram in that post you'll see that it accounts for the second biggest factor in determining how you rank and also ties into and figures into the biggest factor overall. A Successful Website Needs SEO Link Popularity

In order to build a successful website, you have to concentrate on building SEO friendly links back to your page. There are several different ways to accomplish this and inside this article I'm going to discuss the easiest and most effective methods that I have found. Search engines are looking for high quality back links to your site in order to determine the quality of the content that you are providing, so make sure you focus your efforts on quality and not solely on quantity.

A lot of internet marketers have not used the methods that I will discuss and have misused the link building procedure. They have gone for quantity by building back link farms. While these links appear to be beneficial, the search engines do not favor them and might even restrict those sites that have poor quality back links. But those who have taken the time to develop quality links to their sites have a much greater chance of success and will see great results too.

As promised here are 5 techniques you can use to build high quality back links to your site and keep the search engines happy too.

1. Content posting - If the information you publish is of top quality there is a good chance your content will be picked up by other marketers. This means other marketers will publish your content on their sites. Make sure your content contains a link back to your website. When other marketers use your content on their sites having this link is crucial to using this method effectively.

2. Forum Posting - Be a part of some community forums within your market and make sure your signature contains a link back to your site. You should always check the rules within the forum before doing so, as some community forums don't allow back hyperlinks. Once you see that using links are allowed, visit the forum as much as possible to contribute as much as you can. Leave helpful tips and suggestions and members within the community are likely to click back to your site through your link.

3. Link exchanges - Another great way is through link exchanges. In a link exchange you contact other internet marketers and offer to exchange hyperlinks. To accomplish this You put a link to their website on your site and they do the same for you and position a link to your website on their site. This method is very effective plus it helps to establish you as a possible expert within your target market, allowing you to contact other marketers to do the same thing.

4. Commenting on other blogs - Find other blogs within your target market to post high quality comments and feedback on. Don't forget to have your the link back to your site also inside your comment. Make sure you are not spamming these other sites with junk information. Concentrate on delivering quality information and you will be rewarded with a quality back link to your site.

5. Content Promotion - Write content and publish it to article content publishing sites. Most article content publishing sites will allow you to include a resource box where you can write something a little about yourself and more importantly include a back link to your site. Great high quality content will attract a lot visitors and if you use your resource box wisely can be a very powerful tool to drive traffic to your site through the back link.

Creating Backlinks to Your Backlinks

Creating backlinks is the best way to accomplish your goals as a webmaster and the most fundamental and important aspect of search engine optimization. Backlinks will:

1 - Bring in traffic to your site.

2 - Raise your site and individual pages in the SERPs.

3 - Improve upon the authority and reputation of your site in the various search engine's eyes (see 2).

For most of us this is pretty well traveled ground, but today I'm going to talk about creating backlinks to your backlinks in terms of what I mean, how it works, and why you should do it.

Backlinking Your Backlinks

Say that you create a link to your website on an article directory. If it's a high profile directory like Ezine Articles then it's likely that that link will get noticed by Google. We don't want to exclusively rely on just one of ANY kind of site, remember that Google loves link diversity and that includes all kinds of links from different types of sites, different sites within that type, and sites which are authoritative and probably not so authoritative (as the case may be).

The problem with creating links to your site from smaller sites is that they likely won't get picked up/indexed as easily or likely as a backlink from a more highly trafficked and authoritative site like Ezine (not even every Ezine article gets picked up right away or at all sometimes). Therefore it can really help to backlink your backlinks.

This means that when you create a backlink to your site, think about bookmarking or RSSing that link. This significantly improves the chances that Google will find that content and thus give you credit for the link, thus improving your "money site" URL's position in the SERPs for its keyword.

So in staying with the Ezine example, if we write an article, submit it to Ezine, and it eventually gets published on their site, we would take that URL for the article and bookmark. You might also think about pinging it with your ping utility of choice.

Creating backlinks to your backlinks is one way of getting Google or your search engine of choice to notice your content and to significantly increase the odds that you'll get credit for that link, but it's not the only way. There are a lot more things that you can do to make them take notice of and index your new content.

Check out my post on 8 ways of how to get your website indexed for more tips to ensure that your content gets found OFF of your website in addition to just focusing on content on your site.

Are Web Directories Useful for Link Building?

Webmasters have been back and forth with this question: are directories as useful as they were in the beginning of link building. Be your own judge after this article.

I want to start by saying; it's not wise to submit to every free web directory you come across. Always pay attention to web directories you submit to. If your websites goal is to be indexed in search results, websites you link to is more important than the quantity.

Search engines need websites to present in front of their web searchers, quality websites like yours need to be noticed.

A few suggestions to help you find quality web directories:

A directory should not be filled with ads all over the homepage or any page in the domain.Quality listing, with good written titles and descriptions will always display on their website. The directories you submit to must be human edited. This means the directory editor reviews your listing carefully before adding your website.Indexed pages are important. The more indexed pages the better it is for your website.

Web directories are not useful to you, if the directory is not useful to search engines. A few suggestions to pay attention to:

Make sure the web directory is not full of advertised links. Most likely this website is full of spam and low quality listings. (I believe I repeated myself on this point, something to keep in mind)
Instant approval directories should be a red flag for you. This proves the theory of low quality listings, as well categories will have irrelevant link resources. Search engines frown upon these directories and will not index them, this means you will not benefit from a directory like this.
Low indexed pages means, no value or new website. Do your research on any website you wish to link to. Check the history when checking how many pages are indexed.

Keep these tips in mind when you look for quality websites. I suggest that you submit to a handful of useful free web directories that manually review your each listing submitted. As well all content should be updated daily and dead links should be removed from the website.

When link building the option is yours to choose from. A great option is to pay attention to directory lists created by webmasters for webmasters. This way you have a better chance of being indexed by web directories of value. Follow these simple to tips when you start link building.

Harnessing the Value of Site-Wide Links

Before you can harness the potential value of sitewide links you need to first truly understand what they are. In simple terms, site-wide links are links that are obtained from every single webpage on a particular website.

If you browse through websites nowadays you'll notice that they appear in a number of places. For example, blogs very often have a column on the side with various widgets, one of which may be the 'recommended links'. Any link to a webpage appearing there will appear on every page within the blog - making the link a site-wide link.

Now as you probably well know, when you're trying to accumulate backlinks it really is a numbers game and so having your link appear more times is definitely going to be more advantageous. That being said, you may not get the full value of site-wide links in certain situations.

Over the years, Google in particular has started to 'de-value' certain types of site-wide links, especially those that appear only in sidebars or footers. So it is more valuable if they do not appear in either of those locations.

That being said, it is important to realize that sitewide links provide more than just SEO juice.

Direct Traffic From Sitewide Links

One of the advantages of site-wide links that is very often overlooked is the fact that it can generate a lot of direct traffic, particularly if it is a sitewide link from a website that has a lot of internal traffic.

When a link appears conveniently on every webpage that is part of a website, it is far more likely to be noticed and clicked by the people who are browsing through that website. Again, the format and location of the link have a role to play in how many clicks it gets - but consider it a form of free advertising.

This sort of direct traffic is valuable, and in some cases may be even more valuable than getting a couple of extra backlinks to help with SEO value. Depending on the circumstances, you may find that a single site-wide link on a popular website actually helps you generate more traffic than ranking on search engines for many keywords.

If you want to truly harness the potential of site-wide links, you need to keep this in mind. It isn't enough to just count on these links for their SEO value - ideally you should be thinking about whether or not they can help you to bring in traffic, because that is the ultimate goal that you intend to fulfill by ranking higher on search engines anyway.

With the right approach, site-wide links can certainly help make that happen.

Directory Links for Web Promotion

Now that you have your website up and running, the next important step is to promote that website and receive visitors who hopefully will convert to customers and buyers. This is a step you want to make quickly and effectively, but you may not know exactly where to begin.

For starters, remember that directory links for your web promotion are absolutely one of the first things to do. A web directory is a powerful tool you can use to achieve web promotion. It is different from a search engine in that when they receive a link from a business, an actual person will go look at the website. They do not use robots to scour the internet, as do search engines. This is good; it gives you a better chance at being listed according to the category or subcategory of your business rather than just by keywords you use on your website.

In exchange for listing your business in their directory, you are expected to provide a backlink to their directory. The two-way linking is helpful for being noticed by search engines, which also boosts your ranking in searches, so it is a win-win for both sides. The search engines may take their sweet time in discovering your website otherwise; they do regular visits to the directories. If your link is on the directory, the search engines will find your website faster because of your link on the directory.

There is one thing to watch out for when listing with directories. If they use an attribute called "no follow" for your link you will not get those important search engine visits. Try to avoid the "no follow" link directories unless they offer a "follow" link service for a small fee. That fee may be worth the cost. Directories do get visitors who are searching for categories. If you are listed and have an active link, it helps bring interested visitors to your website.

Another way to achieve website promotion with links is to place them within articles you post on your website. Links can go into the actual article or be listed separately in a resource box or source listing below the article. The links within the article are anchor links, and they are more effective at being noticed by search engine robots than just listing straight URLs. Put an article directory on your landing page with links deep into your website to help promote those pages to the search engines in addition to the Home Page they normally visit.

You merely register as requested with each directory. They provide you a link to use on your website; this link helps to improve your ranking with search engines. A brief description you provide the directory can also bring visitors your way. If you list with an article directory, they want to see articles that related to your website theme.

Any costs you incur related to getting listed in link and article directories should be worthwhile and results should justify your expenditures. Help your website to a rapid start using directory links for web promotion.
